USAA finds itself embroiled in a USAA membership lawsuit in which the plaintiff accuses the organization of discrimination. In a lawsuit that was filed in April 2023, it is alleged that USAA conveyed misleading information to its customers about membership benefits. The plaintiff claims that their research has established there being two tiers of memberships where the full benefits are reserved only for a select group.
According to the plaintiff, USAA pushed its enlisted service members to more expensive insurance options compared to ordinary officers. The plaintiff claims that this act is a direct violation of USAA commitment to rendering equal treatment to all military members. The plaintiff in the lawsuit argues that it is very wrong for insurer to favour military officers over enlistees.
USAA in its response to the USAA membership lawsuit has strongly refuted these allegations terming them as malicious and unmerited. The insurer has reaffirmed its commitment to offering equal commitment to all its members and maintains that this has been in the case for as long as the company has been in business. The insurer further adds that its success is tied to its members and for that reason, they cannot engage in any activities that can damage their relationship with their valued members.

However, in a case like this one where no one is backing down, the matter can drag for many years before eventually being settled. In the event that they fail to do so the lawsuit might fall flat and in some cases the plaintiff might decide to press charges against the defendant on grounds of false accusation.
